There are several ways to turn out a profit in gold.  Whether you chose to become a Farmer, Auction House Gambler or Jewel Crafter, the gold your character needs to survive can easily be attained.

Farming can be a profitable way of making gold, but it can vary with different classes.  If you are a successful farmer you can make anywhere between 80 to 200g during a typical farming season.  The key to successful farming is to know what to farm. 

What server you are on can affect what you have the ability to farm and what sells well.  If you are not sure of what it is you should farm, research it.  Farming requires you to stay in one area for a long period of time.  Make sure you have enough food and water to keep your character going.  Stay focused when farming to ensure you get your crops once they have dropped.  The longer your stay focused, the more profit you will end up making.

If farming is not for you, try “playing the Auction House”.  The idea behind the Auction House is to buy low and sell high.  As opposed to spending hours on a farm, you spend about an hour or so a day going through the Auction House looking for things that are going down in price.  Once their prices go down, buy then resell them when their value goes back up, guaranteeing a nice profit.

To be successful at playing the Auction House you will need a good up-to-date add-on.  Go through the Auction House every day to make sure you are keeping up with what items are valued.  Avoid wasting your time buying an item that will only sell for a gold point more than what it was listed for when you bought it.  You want to make a marginal profit.  Some of the items you will always want to check the prices on are shards, primals and void crystal gems.  These items usually sell well if you have bought them cheap.  Make sure you become familiar with the prices of things.

The Jewel Crafting profession enables your character to be better equipped for gold making than other professions.  Remember that every server is different, so make it a point to browse through the Auction Hall on a regular basis to see what is selling and what is not.  Keep leveling your profession until you are able to receive a specialization.  You will make much more gold once you have received a specialization.  For example, Jewelers should buy some good gem cuts, such as living ruby or noble topaz.  Make sure that you have all of the plans, recipes and patterns needed to allow you to make specialty items that will sell well in the Auction House.

Farming, “playing the Auction House” and Jewel Crafting are just some of the ways to gain gold.  There are other professions that also make gold, but we will not get into that here.  Farming requires you to stay in one area, keep focused and wait for your crops to drop.  Working the Auction House requires you to browse through it on a regular basis, getting familiar with the pricing of things.  Jewel Crafting can become profitable if you receive a specialization.  No matter which path you chose to walk, you are sure to spin a profit in gold.
