World of Warcraft Unallied Groups
There
are several races and groups in the World of Warcraft universe: five
Alliance races, five Horde races and five unallied groups. Players
can choose to play as a character in one of the Alliance or Horde
races. Players cannot play as one of the unallied groups, but will
come across characters from the unallied groups as they travel
through the World of Warcraft universe. The unallied groups are the
Burning Legion, Goblins, the Naga, Ogres and the Scourge.
Burning Legion
Comprised of many different demonic races, the Burning Legion was
founded by Sargeras, one of the titans. The Burning Legion is known
for conquering and then destroying entire worlds. In their efforts
to destroy Azeroth, the Burning Legion has used the Orcs and then
the Scourge to try to reach its ultimate goal. Though the Burning
Legion has come close to succeeding in its quest to destroy Azeroth,
they have been defeated each time.

Goblins
Small with green skin, Goblins are typically a neutral race though
some of their mercenaries have been recruited by the Horde. The
Goblin capital is an underground city called Undermine located
beneath Kezan, an island. There are many Goblin cities that are
neutral territory for the Alliance and the Horde. Goblins have
several different roles in the World of Warcraft universe including
engineers and merchants. Goblins are best known for their
explosives, which are highly effective against anyone who crosses
them.
Naga
Formerly Night Elves, the Naga were transformed into water-dwelling
reptilian creatures with fins, scales and tails instead of legs.
The transformation took place when the Well of Eternity imploded and
many of the Elves were taken down into the sea with their city. A
deal was struck with the gods in order to save the lives of these
elves and as a result they were turned into Naga. The males tend to
be blue with muscular features, two dorsal fins and short tentacles
coming from their chin. Females tend to be green, have four arms
and dorsal fins and, though smaller than the males, are still
considered rather large.
Ogres
Dating back to the beginning of the Warcraft series, Ogres are a
race of humanoids that have yellow skin and minimal intelligence.
The typical Ogre may have one or two heads with either one or two
eyes on each head. They are very large and strong, and some have
horns. Ogres that have been magically transformed are called
Ogre-magi. These transformed Ogres have magic powers, blue skin and
increased intelligence. Though players cannot choose to play an
Ogre, it is possible to ally with them.
Scourge
An army of the undead, the Scourge was created by the Burning Legion
and led by the Lich King with the sole purpose of destroying Azeroth.
The Scourge is made up of the undead of several different races,
including Humans and Elves. The goal of the Scourge was to weaken
the Alliance humanoid races in preparation for the Burning Legion's
invasion. Though defeated in the Burning Legion's invasion attempt,
Arthas, an extremely powerful being on Azeroth, plans to rebuild the
Scourge in another attempt to invade Azeroth.
Players may come across members of
these unallied groups as they move through the World of Warcraft
universe, though they may not choose to play as any of them.
